A woman employed by the state of Tennessee in the Department of Corrections was recently arrested for drunk driving. She was taken into custody after law enforcement was called to the scene of a car accident, where they noticed that she showed signs of possible intoxication. As she is facing DUI charges, she is currently on unpaid leave from her job.
At the scene of the accident, police told the people involved in the crash to get out of the road in the interest of safety. The woman in question attempted to move her car, even though it was damaged and unable to start. According to the report, police noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and that her breath smelled of alcohol. She reportedly admitted that she had recently consumed a glass of wine.
When tested, her blood alcohol content registered at .18 percent. This is more than twice the legal limit of .08 percent. Law enforcement officially charged the Tennessee state employee with public intoxication, driving under the influence and reckless driving. As her case is still under investigation and she has not been convicted of any crime, she has the right to protect her interests by seeking defense help.
When facing DUI charges, a person will benefit by obtaining legal counsel as soon as possible after an arrest. With the right help, it is possible to confront these charges appropriately, possibly mitigating the consequences of a conviction. Drunk driving charges can impact many areas of a person's life, including career and family, and a defendant should take these charges seriously by seeking to understand all available legal options.
